Interesting Facts:

Heidi’s dream was to become a world-famous painter, but instead, she went into the law to pursue her second passion – civil rights. These days, Heidi enjoys traveling around the world on various cruises with her husband and two sons. When she retires, she would like to write romance novels and/or become a wedding coordinator.

At SWLG:

Heidi manages an active caseload for a wide range of immigration cases for the New York office. She assists individuals and corporations with obtaining business immigration benefits, such as non-immigrant employment-based visas (H, L, E, P, TNs), labor certification processing, and permanent residence applications based on employment, and also advises on compliance issues. In particular, she has assisted clients with difficult cases and has successfully obtained L-1 and E visas for entrepreneurs and start-up companies.

Heidi also specializes in helping clients to obtain temporary work visas and green cards based on their extraordinary ability in the fine arts, performing arts and music, as well as culinary arts. In addition to her casework, Heidi volunteers her time pro bono to present seminars and information sessions for HR specialists as well as local universities to further assist the international community in NYC.

Prior Experience:

Prior to joining SWLG, Heidi was an associate at a major international law firm, assisting Fortune 500 companies in various labor & employment matters that were often featured in headline news. In particular, she was part of the legal team that helped secure half a billion dollars in labor concessions during bankruptcy proceedings. Heidi has provided training for clients’ supervisory staff on various employment related matters, as well as assisted in teaching a comparative labor & employment seminar at the Tokyo campus of Temple University Law School.

Interest in Immigration:

Heidi has lived abroad for many years in Korea, Thailand, and Japan, personally witnessing the challenges that foreign nationals face in their efforts to immigrate to the U.S., and this experience was the impetus for Heidi to join the immigration practice at SWLG. Helping to secure immigration benefits for various clients has been particularly rewarding, especially since both she and her husband come from immigrant families, and she herself is a naturalized citizen.
