Together, and as we expand our firm with offices both in the U.S. and abroad, we have assisted foreign national clients from over 25 different countries.
Specifically, the partners at SW Law Group bring over 50 years of combined experience to our firm:

David Sindell

Our founding partner, has nearly 24 years of experience in immigration law and leads our Tokyo office. He spends his time between the four offices, but is based in Tokyo. He is one of a few licensed attorneys of Foreign Law in Japan, specializing in U.S. immigration. He is admitted to the Tokyo Bar Association.

David speaks French and Japanese at a near native level, having spent over 30 years combined in France and Japan, and is currently working on mastering his fourth language, Thai.

Barbara Wong

With over 18 years of experience in immigration, leads our Silicon Valley office.

She has handled various employment-based U.S. immigration matters for Fortune 500 and 1000 companies and was formerly a senior attorney at two large international immigration firms where she gained in-depth experience in business immigration matters.

Barbara is fluent in Cantonese and proficient in Mandarin.

Training & Representation

Additionally, in the current era of investigations and compliance issues, we offer I-9 training, employer compliance handbooks, and representation of clients during investigations by the Department of Labor (DOL), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

IMMIGRATION VISA MATTERS

We handle a broad range of immigration visa matters, including: nonimmigrant visas such as H-1B (specialty occupation workers), O-1 (aliens of extraordinary abilities), TN (NAFTA professionals), J-1 (exchange visitors), B-1/B-2 (business visitors/tourists), L-1 (intracompany transferees), E (treaty country traders/investors); permanent immigrant visas through labor certification (PERM), multinational executives/ managers, foreign nationals with extraordinary abilities, outstanding researchers, and national interest waivers; and adjustment of status applications and consular processing.

U.S. IMMIGRATION

We focus on the expert execution of difficult matters and are proud to be able to assist foreign nationals and their employers in navigating the intricacies of our complicated U.S. immigration laws.

In addition to handling U.S. immigration issues, through our global reach, we handle directly, and through co-counsel relationships, global immigration issues for various countries including the U.K., Japan, France, Thailand, and India. In particular, we pride ourselves in our Japanese practice.

PRESENCE IN JAPAN

Based on our presence in Tokyo, Japan, we believe that we are the largest firm in the U.S. servicing Japanese companies, investors, and individuals. Through our office in Tokyo, which is located ten minutes from the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo, we are privy to the most up-to-date information on consular processing issues in that area. Specifically, we work closely with Japanese corporate clients on U.S. immigration related legal matters.

We have assisted numerous multinational Japanese companies in opening representative offices and incorporating subsidiaries in the U.S.  Of particular note, founding partner David Sindell is one of a few foreign lawyers specializing in U.S. immigration in Tokyo admitted to the Tokyo Bar Association.

MULTILINGUAL TEAM

As such, we are particularly able to advise on visa application processes for our Japan based clients.

Our legal team consists of professionals who have extensive experience providing immigration services to large corporations, start-ups, and individuals. Members of our staff speak English, Japanese, French, Thai, Korean, Mandarin, and Cantonese fluently.

In 1994, SW Law Group, P.C. was founded as Sindell Law Offices by David Sindell with a firm belief that a small, well-qualified team could perfect the balance of providing high quality professional services with focused, personal attention.

As part of our standard services, for instance, we provide regular calls with clients and schedule individual meetings with all foreign national employees who require them or have questions about their specific case.
